Amazon has 9.7 million sellers worldwide Of which, 1.9 million are selling on the marketplace (Marketplace Pulse 2021).

The number of sellers who sell on Amazon is increasing. In fact, every year, more than one million new sellers sign up on Amazon. In the first quarter of 2021 alone there were as high as 283,000 sellers registered to sell on the marketplace. If this trend persists, Amazon could have as numerous as 1.4 million sellers by the end of 2019.

Most of these sellers (25.6 percent to date) have signed up to sell their goods on Amazon.com. The next step is Amazon.in, host to 10.2 percent of new Amazon sellers.

Amazon sellers face fierce competition. Amazon has a lot of sellers, but only a small percentage of total sales is produced by sellers. Only one in 10 Amazon sellers could make more than $100,000 annually while only one percent reached the $1million threshold.
